90-Minute Webinar | February 6, 2024 | 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM CENTRAL Time

Why is it that most financial institutions are out of compliance with NRA reporting rules? Well, it is
because there are so many myths about how to complete the W-8BEN which sets up the problem with
interest reporting. If you think having a US TIN makes the W-8BEN complete, think again. On interest-
bearing accounts in most cases, you must have a Foreign Tax Identification Number (FTIN). Another
great myth is that if you have a SSN, the customer goes on a W-9. Again, not true. Then there is the
whole problem of Customer Identification programs (CIP) and what identification to get and not get.
It’s complicated but if we can get these old myths out of our processes, it does not have to be so hard.
This webinar will untangle the problem of NRAs and you can move on to a successful program.
Remember you don’t have to attend the webinar live; you can receive the recording the day
after the program and all its materials.

  • Sort out nonresident aliens, resident aliens and US Persons
  • What types of identification are acceptable?
  • What is a FTIN? Who must have it?
  • Does a SSN/ITIN have any role in the W-8 BEN process
  • 1042 S reporting for consumer accounts
  • Writing Procedures for NRAs
  • Job checklist for NRAs
  • Illegal aliens and your responsibilities
  • Much much more in this program
